14 Weeks

Hello second trimester!
*The belly's only obvious when I wear something tighter fitting.  I can totally hide it with looser tops.  I just pulled this shirt tight to expose the belly!

Pregnancy Highlights:

Size of Baby:  Baby Hendricks is 3 1/2 inches (about the size of a lemon) and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  ?????  Won't know until my appointment next week!

Maternity Clothes:  Not yet!

Gender:  Leah insists that it's a girl.  I told her that the baby might be a boy and she informed me that it was not a boy, but a girl!

Movement:  Not yet!

Sleep:  I'm sleeping great!  I'm a side sleeper anyways so I haven't had to make any adjustments yet.

What I Miss:  I was totally jealous of Luke's Sangria tonight at dinner!  This is one of my favorites!

Cravings:  None yet!

Symptoms:  None really!  I'm so thankful that I haven't had heartburn yet because when I was pregnant with Leah I couldn't go five minutes without a Tums.  I'm wondering if this baby is going to be bald!

Best Moment This Week:  Luke finally got to feel the hard baby bump!  It's always easier to feel when I have a full bladder first thing in the morning!  It's so crazy that my belly is growing but it's not really from the "baby bump".  It's just everything else in my stomach shifting up.  Crazy!  My best "non-family/pregnancy" moment this week was getting a very special delivery from Texas!  I actually received my order a couple of weeks ago only to open the box and find that I had ordered the wrong thing!  Talk about crazy pregnancy brain!  They were super super nice though and just had me ship them back the other (Smoky, I think it was) and they replaced it with the one we love.....roasted garlic!  For some reason, I can't find it at my local grocery store anymore.  Thank goodness for the internet!  This order will last us about a month, two if we're lucky!

In Leah news.....she is 100% potty trained!  She is wearing panties 24 hours a day, even during naps and overnight!  She is doing AMAZING!!!!!  We don't even have to ask her to go potty, she just runs to the bathroom when she has to go!  I'm so so thankful that we didn't push her and that we waited until she was ready!  I really feel like she potty trained herself!  She doesn't even need Skittles or suckers for potty treats anymore!  AND she LOVES public restrooms!  She usually has to go more than once when we're out somewhere, although the second time is always a "falst alarm".  We're so proud of our big girl!

Today we went to visit her new preschool that she'll be going to in the fall!  We got to meet her teacher, see her classroom and she even got to play on the playground with one of the classes!  She was in love!  Her teacher is really sweet so we're very excited about next year!  We even got to meet another little girl, Kylie, who will be in her class with her next year!  Leah saw some of the other kids backpacks and lunch bags and she has already made her request for a "blue backpack" (just because she saw one, pink is definitely her favorite color) and a "princess lunch bag".  Imagine that!  We went out to lunch at Noodles & Company afterwards!  So good!  Thanks for the recommendation Rach!

We went out to dinner tonight and all was well until Leah leaned on the table and knocked over a glass of water.  Water went everywhere!  I was so embarrassed!  It was a complete accident but I still couldn't help but turn ten shades of red!  The waiter was on his hands and knees cleaning it up.  If that wasn't enough, they came and placed a "Caution, Wet" (I'm not sure if that's really what it said but it was big and yellow) by our table.  BUT they didn't put the caution sign where the water spilled, they put it beside Leah's chair on the opposite end of the table.  I probably don't even need to tell you that we left a BIG tip!  The owners, though, were super super nice to Leah and even told her that if she ate her dinner they would bring her some chocolate chip cookies!  They did.....warm and fresh!  I don't know how in the world we're ever going to go out to eat with two kiddos!

New Car

Last Thursday Luke and I decided to do something crazy.....buy a new car!  Our Acura MDX was a 2007 that we bought used last year.  We put lots and lots of miles on it (it already had quite a few on it when we got it) and it was starting to show signs of needing some attention, all covered under warranty but not anything we felt like dealing with.  We went and looked at Chevy Tahoes and Toyota Sequoias thinking we wanted something a little bigger but neither of these were near as nice (or much bigger at all).  So we went to Acura and looked at the brand spankin' new 2011 MDX's.  I LOVE that car to the point that I think I will always drive an MDX.  Their interiors are so hard to beat!  We looked at colors and finally decided on black or silver, silver only so that it would feel different.  We LOVED how sporty the black one was so we decided to stick with that!  We did, however, decide that we would get a black one with gray interior since the 2007 had black interior.  The dealership found one in the Bay Area and were scheduled to pick it up first thing Friday morning.  Well, Friday morning they called us to tell us that the other dealership had sold that one Thursday night and there were no other black with gray interiors in the state of California.  The 2012's won't be out until the fall and we didn't want to wait that long so we were back at square one deciding on colors.  We finally decided to just go with the black on black.  We got to bring it home Friday night and then today it went back to the dealership for all of the things we had added.....a roof rack, running boards, beeping back-up sensors (our other one had these and I got really dependent on them), an alarm, a hitch for the jet ski and fancy rims (why we needed these I'll never know, Luke HAD to have them).  I LOVE IT!!!!!  I love it so much that I don't want it to leave the garage so that nothing can happen to it!  Since the 2007 was used I never felt that way!  I don't even want Leah wearing her shoes in the new one!  I'll get over it soon I'm sure!

And just to compare, here's the 2007 that we traded in!  Pretty different, huh!  Ha!

Happy Easter!

*Notice the band-aids on her leg?  Those were in her Easter basket from Nana and Papaw and have been a HUGE hit!  She seems to always be in need of a band-aid now, two or three at a time, several times a day!  "Owies" seem to appear out of nowhere ("owies" that Mommy and Daddy can't even see)!  How did we ever go this long without band-aids?

Guess who hopped by our house this morning?  The Easter Bunny!  Leah left her basket (full of candy) out last night for the Easter Bunny to fill up while she slept!  She was very concerned about her candy last night when she went to bed.  She helped us put her basket up on the kitchen counter so that it would be easy for the Easter Bunny to find and in a very very sad voice (almost in tears) she said "The Easter Bunny's gonna take my candy."  We assured her that the Easter Bunny would leave ALL of her candy!  Sure enough, the candy was in a nice neat pile on the kitchen counter this morning!  Sheesh!!!!!

When Leah woke up this morning she had to go in search of her basket.  The Easter Bunny hid it on her!  (This is something Luke's family always did growing up and he LOVED getting to find his basket so we decided to do this with our own family.  He said the best place the Bunny ever hid his basket was in the dryer!)  It didn't take her too long to find her basket behind her playhouse!
The Easter Bunny did VERY good this year and filled her basket full of her very favorite things.....a Princess Aurora dress with bracelets and necklaces (she has 4 princess dresses but did not have Aurora, this led to a major meltdown one day), a monogrammed swim suit, magnetic princess dolls, a princess plate and a Minnie Mouse nightgown.  Her basket was supposed to also contain the "Tangled" DVD but we really needed a new movie the other night so it came out of its hiding spot early!  She was one happy princess this morning!

Right after lunch we went across the street to our neighbors for dessert and to hunt Easter eggs!  This is Leah's babysitter Nora's family and they always spoil Leah rotten!  Of course she wanted to wear her new Princess Aurora dress (with her new Minnie Mouse nightgown underneath)!  She used her Easter basket that Paula and Mark brought her last night for hunting today!

The princess took her four-wheeler for a quick spin once we got back home!

This afternoon Leah and her Daddy had to run a quick errand to Home Depot to pick up our fan for our patio that's going in this week.  Of course she had to wear her princess Aurora dress there as well (she also wore it to Starbucks this morning)!  When they got home she couldn't wait to tell me that a man called her Tinkerbell.  I asked her what she said to him and she said that she said "No silly, I'm Aurora."  Her Daddy said that she really didn't say a word!

Tonight for dinner I baked a ham and made twice baked potatoes, green bean casserole and rolls (well, I didn't make the rolls, the grocery store did).  After dinner Leah asked if Braydon could come over so he came and played for about an hour before time for bath and bed!
We had a fantastic family day and are ready for our busy, busy week ahead!  My "to do" list for tomorrow is quite long!

Easter Fun

This morning we went to a big Easter egg hunt with Jason, Lindsay and Zoe in Folsom.  The girls had a blast, found lots of eggs and ate lots of candy!  After the hunt we went back to their house for lunch and for the girls to play!

Quick potty break before the big hunt!
Our princess potty chair goes with us lots of places these days!

Sweet girls!

Waiting patiently for the hunt to begin!

5...4...3...2...1!

Daddy's girl!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

Time for candy!  I think I'm going to be saying "this is your last one" in my sleep tonight!

After all of our fun with the Harnes we rushed home to clean the house and for Leah to take a nap.  Tonight Nora came over to babysit while Luke and I had date night!  We wanted to try somewhere new so we went to Tapa the World for tapas and Sangria.  We were still a little hungry and it was still early so instead of ordering more tapas, we ventured over to Centro, one of our absolute favorites, and split carnitas tacos.....so, so good!  Leah and Nora had tons of fun while we were out!  They ate pizza, colored Easter eggs, hunted the Easter eggs and played dress up!  Nora even gave Leah a bath which saved us lots of time tonight!  Now it's time to get ready for Easter Sunday!

13 Weeks

I'm 13 weeks today!

*Wow!  I look TIRED in this picture!  Please excuse my photographer and I as we work out all the details on these weekly pics!  They have been a source of conflict the past two weeks (I refuse to argue over how to take these pics for the next 27 weeks)!  Half of the pictures are headshots with no visible belly at all!  His response when I brought this to his attention....."I'm sorry that I'm mesmerized by your beauty."  I sure do love this man!

Pregnancy Highlights:

Size of Baby:  Baby Hendricks is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  Not sure on this one!  We don't have a scale at home so I really won't know until I go back to the doctor in two weeks.  They didn't weigh me at my appointment today.

Maternity Clothes:  None yet but the jeans I wore today were held together by a rubberband.

Gender:  Still don't know.  When I had my 13 week ultrasound with Leah, they told us she was a boy so at my ultrasound today we didn't ask and they didn't offer.  From all that I've read, you can't tell the baby's sex yet at 13 weeks.  I think we're going to sneak to the 3-D place in a couple of weeks so that we can find out before we go to Texas!  All of the pregnant Mama's at Leah's daycare (it's in the water) are having boys and the Chinese birth chart says I'm having a boy and Luke really really wants a boy someday so I can't wait to find out!

Movement:  Not really but I'm starting to think that all of the little tingles in my tummy are the baby!

Sleep:  No trouble at all!  If only I could sleep in each morning!  In fact, when Luke was out of town a few weeks ago, I couldn't believe how good I slept!  Usually when he's out of town I stay up entirely too late just making myself so tired that I won't lay in bed listening to every single sound outside the window.  This time I was asleep every single night by 9:30 (way before Leah).

What I Miss:  Not gagging over every single unpleasant smell!  This has really been a problem at work lately!

Cravings:  None yet!

Symptoms:  As long as I eat and don't let myself get hungry, I feel great!

Best Moment This Week:  Getting a fantastic report today during my First Trimester Screening and getting to see our little guy or gal during the ultrasound.  I can't believe I'm officially 1/3 of the way through this pregnancy!

Here he or she is!  Look at that sweet little face (on the left looking up, you can make out the nose, lips and chin really good)!  This little guy or gal seems to have the shape of his Daddy's head (not round like Leah and mine).

And just to compare, here's Leah's 13 week ultrasound.  You can definitely make out her very round head (just like her Mama's)!

In Leah news.....She is doing AMAZING on the potty and has been wearing her panties all day long and only wears diapers to bed at night!  She hasn't had an accident at naptime EVER and hasn't had a single accident in the last few days!  I am so so proud of my big girl!  Also, she has done AMAZING at drop off this week at Ms. Trish's house and one day wouldn't even let her Daddy walk in the door with her!  This is a HUGE improvement!  I think it has just become a habit for her to shed a few tears at drop off EVERY SINGLE MORNING for as long as I can remember.  I mean, she's only been in daycare since she was three months old!  Of course she doesn't want to leave when it's time to pick her up either!  AND look at what she brought home from Ms. Trish's house today (a wooden photo holder that she painted all by herself, I'm assuming before it was all glued together!  Ha!)!

Happy Birthday Boys!

Today was a busy, busy day for us!  Luke had to give a sales meeting this morning so he was out the door by 7:30 to pick up bagels for his audience.  Leah got to sleep in for a little bit but then we had to get up and get ready for a big birthday party.  Her friend Braydon was turning 3 and his baby brothers, Riley and Jackson, were turning 1!  Daddy made it home just in time for the party (with a mocha frappuccino in his hand for Mommy)!

Getting ready for the party!  Leah is always in charge of getting her own shoes ready to go.  I asked her to get either her white sandals or her silver shoes ready but she picked out her light pink shoes.  I told her that they didn't "match" so she grabbed her sparkly pink shoes, laid them next to the other pink shoes that she had already picked out to wear and told me "these match Mommy."!  Yes, the pink shoes matched the other pink shoes but they didn't match her outfit!  This was a battle I just had to pass on!

Time for the party!

Eating lunch with the birthday boy!
The "orange chips" were her favorite (Nacho Cheese Doritos)!

This little conductor loved her cupcake!

The kiddos even got to plants flowers in little cups they decorated with stickers!

After the party we came home for a little "quiet time" on the couch (no time for a nap today) while Luke and I worked on cleaning up the backyard.  We're scheduled to get our concrete stained on Thursday (if the rain holds off) so we have to cut back all of the plants that have grown over the edge of the concrete before then.  This might take a few days!  Tonight for dinner we were off to one of our neighbors, the Josephs.  They had us over as a "thank you" for dogsitting for them a couple of weeks ago!  We had a wonderful time!  Leah is one tired little girl.....she hasn't made a peep since we put her down (very unusual for her)!  We have another busy day tomorrow!
