Lauren: One Month Old

My baby girl is ONE MONTH OLD!  Time seems to be flying by faster than ever now that Lauren is here!  I know that Lauren is my last baby, so I'm trying to savor every last baby snuggle and baby smell.  She is the BEST BABY EVER!  Seriously, she hardly ever cries EVER!  Even when she was born, she didn't cry much at all, and I remember asking the nurse if it was okay that she wasn't crying more (of course she assured me that she was just fine)!  She's just a tiny little sweet, content baby girl!

Lauren fits into her role as the third child just perfectly as she's as content as can be being loaded up into her carseat fourty-seven times a day to chauffeur Big Sister and Big Brother to and fro!  When Leah was born I was scared to death to take her many places at all, and when Lane was born we were basically house bound for a month because he was early and it was right in the middle of RSV season.  Lauren, child number three, spent many hours of her first month in a germ-infested Kindergarten classroom.....her first time being the day she turned two weeks old!  She didn't seem to mind one single bit and has spent countless hours since then there too!

I'm probably breaking every rule in the baby text book, but she starts her nights off in the co-sleeper right next to my bed (I put her down on her back but she ALWAYS rolls immediately to her side), but as soon as she wakes up she spends the rest of the night snuggled up with Mommy.  I doze off and let her nurse herself back to sleep and then we switch sides the next time she wakes up.  I almost feel guilty that she sleeps as well and as easy as she does and that she lets us get as much sleep as we get!  (Her brother, on the other hand, rarely sleeps through the night now and is generally up once, twice or sometimes even three times per night!)  When she does wake up (whether in the co-sleeper or in our bed) she just kind of starts kicking and moving around.  She very rarely ever cries when she wakes up at night, maybe a little chirp here and there.  Best baby ever, I'm telling you!

She is a nursing CHAMP!  From the moment she was born I was dreading that awful day that nursing becomes so very painful that you just have to close your eyes, grit your teeth and go to your happy place far far FAR away.  Surprisingly, that never ever happened with Lauren.  Either my nipples turned into leather after nursing Lane for fifteen months or she has an absolute perfect latch!

She's going to hate me for this one day, but she is the LOUDEST pooper I've ever heard!  She doesn't poop silently EVER!  This just doesn't fit her dainty little personality at all so it's quite amusing!

We were blessed with many, MANY visitors this month who brought amazing gifts and cooked us yummy dinners!  I have mounds of thank you cards to send out (along with 125 birth announcements) but am so very thankful to be able to do it!  Please be very patient with me if you're waiting for a thank you card.....I've written FOUR in the last TWO weeks!  Yikes!!!

1 Month Stats
Weight:  7 lbs, 2.2 oz (15%) at 2 week check-up (April 14th)
Length:   19 1/2 inches (14%) at 2 week check-up (April 14th)
Eating:   Nurses every 3 hours.  Sleeps for 2 1/2 hrs then wakes up to eat almost exactly on the 3 hour mark.  Goes a little longer at night (closer to 4 hrs).  Hasn't had a bottle just yet but Daddy's patiently waiting to give her one!  Of all my babies, she spits up the most, but it doesn't seem to bother her one single bit. She's not the easiest to burp so I think it seems to happen more when she's in need of a good one.  She almost always spits up on her changing table too when getting her diaper changed!
Bedtime:  Usually around 10:00 pm she is wide awake so Mommy goes to bed and lets her nurse in bed and she goes right to sleep or Daddy will rock her for awhile!  Really though she's not on any type of schedule.  If she's asleep in her bouncy  Mommy tries to get some things done around the house before we go to bed!  Unlike my other two, we don't swaddle Lauren.  We swaddled her in the beginning, but when Luke went to market (when she was four days old) I just couldn't do it near as good as he does so I stopped doing it and she's continued to sleep just perfectly without it!
Awake:  Around 8:30 am or so.  We're not really on any type of schedule just yet and when she does wake up, she's just as content as can be snuggling with Mommy in bed before dozing off for a nap.
Naps:  This girl is a napper!  Sleeps for 2 1/2 hrs then wakes up to eat almost exactly on the 3 hour mark.  Goes a little longer at night (4 hrs or so).  She takes her naps in the mamaRoo, bouncy seat or on the couch!
Diapers:  Started out the month in Pampers Preemies, moved into Pampers Newborn and is now in Pampers Size 1 just because I already had them.  They're a little big but with a little fold around the tummy they work just fine!
Clothes:  Getting one last wear out of her Preemies and starting to fit into her Newborns.
Favorites:  Nursing, laying/sleeping on her side, being held and rocked, mamaRoo, bouncy seat, car rides, snuggling with Mommy in bed, being sung to, absolutely loves her baths and of course her big brother and big sister and doesn't seem to mind getting her diaper changed one single bit!
Dislikes:  Clothes being pulled over her head or her bows falling down over her eyes!  And we haven't found a pacifier that she LOVES just yet.  So far the tiny newborn Mam is the only one she'll even pretend to like.
Development:  Head's getting stronger so she's starting to hold it up pretty good!  Since the day we came home from the hospital she rolls to her side anytime she's laid down on her back.  I always start her out on her back but she hasn't stayed in that position once.
