Show and Tell: D

For the letter D's show and tell, Leah didn't choose her princess Dominos that I suggested or anything Dora like her Daddy thought of, but she took the thing that she came up with all on her own.....DOLLHOUSE DOLLS (the Mommy and Daddy)!  Leah was very concerned about not taking something that someone else may bring so she thought really hard for a unique idea!  I think she succeeded!

Pirates & Princesses at Chick-fil-A

Princesses for Leah, pirates for Luke (you know since Leah picked out a pirate birthday party for him this year of course), Chick-fil-A for me and lots of love for Lane.....what else could we have asked for last night?!?!

Chick-fil-A was a happening place!  We had to hover for a table!  Crazy, crazy!  BUT we all had lots of fun (Tanner and his family even joined us) so it was all worth it!

And yes, Luke and I dressed the part the entire time!  Mommy and Daddy of the year, I know!  The things we do for these little people!  :)  One more thing.....man, I look tired!

Tanner's 4th Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Tanner's 4th birthday at Safetyville USA!  It's a miniature Sacramento full of streets, buildings, railroad tracks, stop signs and working stop lights that the kids were able to explore with their bikes and scooters!  There's a hospital, bank with an ATM and even a McDonalds drive-thru!  Cute, cute!  It was the funnest place for a boy's birthday party (boy vs girl because you can run with a cars theme)!  I will definitely keep this place in mind for Lane's future parties (I think 4 was the perfect age)!  Safetyville is generally reserved for school field trips in which they teach street/road safety, but they do host birthday parties as well!

The kids were given a "driver's license" before they could "drive" around the town!  They even had to give a fingerprint for their license!  Too cute!  As an added bonus, Tanner's grandpa built a car wash (actually a bike/scooter wash) for the kids to "drive" through!  It was a hit, and I think Leah earned the award for scooting through the most!  The girl was a wet mess by the time it was time to go inside and eat!

Applying for her license!

Leah and the birthday boy!

All ready to hit the streets!  We took both her bike and her scooter, but she chose to scoot around the entire time!

The awesome carwash!

Lane was his usual happy little self and enjoyed watching all the action from his stroller!  He missed his afternoon nap, but you never would have known it!  He is seriously, the easiest, happiest, mellowest little guy ever!  He definitely has his Daddy's personality!

Leah and Grace!  Leah looked like a sopping wet puppy dog at this point!  Ha!

Lane sure enjoyed the pizza!

And just a few more fun pictures!

Of course, I had to get my picture in front of the Texas barbecue restaurant!  :)

And Lane wanted his picture taken in front of the hospital where he was born almost a year ago!

After Tanner's birthday party, we rushed home, rested for all of five minutes, changed into our princess and pirate gear and were off to Chick-fil-A for a fun filled night of what else.....pirates and princesses!

Show and Tell: C & Princess Pajama Party

Today Leah chose to take a mermaid CASTLE for the letter C's Show and Tell.  She had originally planned to take her Barbie convertible car, but at gymnastics yesterday she told one of her friends that she was bringing that and her friend (who had originally planned on taking a toy cat) thought it was such a good idea so she wanted to bring hers.  Leah then insisted that she could not take the same thing!  We finally came up with a castle, the mermaid one being the most portable castle in our house!

As for the rest of our day, Lane woke up from his morning nap with some wild and crazy hair!

Tonight Leah and her friend Maddie went to a "Princess and Pajama Party" put on by our local parks and rec department.  All the girls wore jammies and slippers, and then at the party they made crowns, princess wands, necklaces and castle bags, and also ate pizza and cupcakes and had a princess tea party.  Mommies weren't invited to the party, but the girls put on a princess parade for us to see!  Leah has the princess wave down perfect!  :)  Oh, and I had ZERO say in the jammies she picked out!  She assured me the nightgown and the pants and shirt all went together because they all had Minnie on them!  How could I argue with that!  At least she let me stick a bow in her hair!

Yellow Day

Today was yellow day in Leah's pre-K class.  Just like last year, they focus on a different color each month, and then have a dress up day to celebrate the color!

Mommy's Job

Last Wednesday when I picked Leah up from preschool, Mrs. Pevy had a story for me.  She said that during circle time they were talking about what jobs their mommies and daddies do.  This is what Leah said her Mommy's job is.....

"Mommy works at home and pays bills.  Some bills are on the white computer (iPad) and some she writes.  It takes her a long time.  The bills come in the mail but there's junk (mail) sometimes.  We don't like the junk (mail), only the boys do."

This girl cracks me up!  All of this came to be one night when I was paying bills on the iPad and Leah was begging to play on it.  I kept telling her that I was doing my work paying the bills so she needed to be patient and wait until I was done if she wanted to play one of her games.

Another funny...

We were talking about her Halloween costume this year and she told me that I could be a princess and wear my "pink dress from Jennifer's wedding" (she's asked me all about it so she knows it's from Jennifer's wedding).  I could "undust it" she said!  She sees this dress hanging in my closet and begs me to wear it all the time!

Lazy Make-Up Free Weekend

We had a lazy, uneventful weekend around here.  This was the first Saturday that Luke hasn't had to give a sales meeting in a long time, so it was very nice to have him home with us for two full days in a row!

I have a denim dress that is very similar to one that Leah has.  I've had it for years.  I never ever wear it, but just haven't had a reason to get rid of it, so it's been hanging in my closet for a very long time.  Leah found it recently and has BEGGED me to wear it when she wears her denim dress.  I have escaped having to do this for quite some time, but I finally gave in on Saturday when she started having a little melt down about it.  Daddy and Lane matched in their blue too!

We went out to breakfast at Paesanos on Saturday.  They gave Leah some pizza dough to play with which kept her entertained the entire time.  Breakfast was delicious, even my loaded potatoes that ended up covered in Leah's orange juice that spilled as she was reaching for her pizza dough.  This was towards the end of breakfast so I was almost done eating by then.  They were good so I continued to eat them anyway.

Luke went out with a friend to watch football last night so that left Mama in charge of baths (it's usually Daddy's gig).  It was tough.....the little man does NOT sit down in the tub anymore.  He likes to gather up all of the washrags and head to the corner of the tub and stand with his back to you.  Why, I'm not sure, but it makes for one challenging bath session.  It's all worth it, though, to get to snuggle with a fresh clean baby.....one of my favorite smells in the whole wide world!

Leah was all snug in her double layered jammies all ready for bed tonight.  I asked her what she wanted to wear to school tomorrow and she asked "What fashion item can I choose from?".  This girl cracks me up!
